This coming Sunday, May 14th is Mother’s Day in North America (and possibly also elsewhere).
Whether you appreciate the commercialism or not, for some women, it will be a day where they are wrapped in the warm embrace of family, reminded of the many reasons they are loved by their children.
But not for all women. For some, it will be a painful day:
A day that reminds them of children (or a mother) they have lost; A day that reminds them of the slow and painful process of conceiving the child(ren) they have; A day that reminds them that they still don’t have a child, despite a multitude of efforts, interventions, and prayers; A day that brings back the ache of not being able to become a biological mother. (Please visit www.EmptyWomb.com to experience the powerful and painful beauty of Ro Firestone’s art).
There are likely many more reasons…

All to say, please be gentle and aware as you may want to wish someone a Happy Mother’s Day this Sunday. Take a moment to pause and consider that it may be a day some choose to ignore or forget.
Instead, send out a silent prayer of whatever kind moves your soul, and let that be your blessing.
