My Signature Methodology is called The ABCs of Inclusion™.
It works on three premises:
- Inclusion is an outcome™
- Creating a sense of belonging requires conversation
- Building healthy communities and creating a workplace culture that truly values D&I starts with leadership who “get it”.
We begin by understanding people’s sense of belonging in your workplace.
We use that information to customize the ABCs of Inclusion™ journey.
The program starts with Senior Leadership so that they understand and embody what D&I work requires of leaders. Managers are next. And staff follow.
The cornerstones of our approach are creating a culture of learning, and continued support over time – because we know this work is challenging, and that the real work starts when the training is done.
To find out more about the ABCs of Inclusion™ for your company or organization,
please schedule a time to speak with Annemarie.
Here’s what my clients are saying:
“Annemarie came to work with the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto as the agency was grappling with the reality of the over representation of African Canadian children in the child welfare system, and in our agency specifically. An examination of our data revealed that the African Canadian community was profoundly impacted by a disparity in services received resulting in a disproportionate number of African Canadian children in our care. In response to this crisis, we reached out to Annemarie.
Annemarie taught us that if we want to make real change as an organization, we must concurrently examine our own world view and perspective stemming from positions of privilege and social location. She gently but wisely challenged us to consider the daily experiences of those whose social location marginalizes and excludes them from full social participation. This interpersonal work allowed us to examine our personal role in perpetuating this marginalization.
This was so critical as a foundation to beginning our journey toward socially just child welfare practice. Annemarie engaged with us through group and individual interviews, conversation cafes, training, survey completion, an in-depth report production, and an ‘all staff meeting’ facilitation on awareness. Staff responded to Annemarie’s style with openness and a willingness to see things differently. Annemarie is able to challenge entrenched patterns of behavior and assumptions without participants feeling shut down or shamed.
She was able to draw out honest and genuine experiences and stories through which we learned from one another and could grow as individuals and as an organization. We can honestly say Annemarie’s work had a profound impact on the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto and she received an award of recognition at our 2018 Annual General Meeting in recognition of her work with us!!”
